On May 16, 2002, the Chicago Historical Society (CHS) hosted a public
program for the 90th Birthday Celebration honoring Studs Terkel,
CHS's distinguished scholar-in-residence and Chicago's favorite author
and radio personality. Guests that honored Terkel at this special
program included Chicago Tribune columnist and program host
Rick Kogan, radio personality and author Garrison Keillor,
actor and Lookingglass Theatre cofounder David Schwimmer, Grammy
Award-winning jazz singer Kurt Elling, renowned historian Garry
Wills, filmmaker and cinematographer Haskell Wexler, author
Sydney Lewis, former WFMT Radio program director Norm Pellegrini,
jazz singer Spider Saloff, social worker and Will the Circle
be Unbroken? interviewee Hideko Tamura Snider, folk singer
Jamie O'Reilly, pianist Bradley Williams, and Chicago
